What Note Would You Send?

Greetings, friends!

I've been working on those New Year's resolutions.  One of my resolutions is to submit to more markets in 2012.  In my research, I encountered a fairly new place that publishes short poems and short stories on postcards.  I adore postcards.  I love receiving mail that isn't marketing solicitation, credit card applications or bills.  Happy mail matters!

Here's the market, The Postcard Press.  They do have themes for submissions.  Check it out!

By the way, the price of postcard postage increased this past January.  It is now thirty-two cents to mail a standard 4x6 postcard.  Just so you know, in case you feel the urge to pen a few lines and send a post today.

What short note would you send into the universe today?

I've heard of this market. Good luck on your sub! :)

Someone once told me that instead of taking a million pictures and trying to capture every moment when they travel, they pick up postcards of the place and make notes on them, etc, for their scrapbook. I don't recall if they then sent the cards to themselves or just brought them home. Either way, I thought it was a neat idea.

Thanks, Madeline. You've made me wonder what postcards my characters would want in their scrapbooks! Another small way of peeking inside their personalities, no? Thanks for dropping by!

This is so cool, Stacy! Thanks for sharing the link.

When I was a kid, it was 32¢ to send standard letters by mail and I think postcard stamps were 20¢. It stinks that prices for everything must increase all the time. :/

You're most welcome, Laura! Good luck to you if you submit something. If you get accepted, you'll have to send me copy in the mail!
